Robert Shoffner has been named Director of MBA Programs and full-time instructor at GGU’s Ageno School of Business. Since 2014, he has been teaching at GGU and last year won the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Member award for undergraduate management instruction. A former Citibank executive, Robert is also an alumnus of GGU’s EMBA program and Brown University.
During his extensive career at Citibank, Robert excelled in numerous senior leadership roles, including President for California and Nevada. He was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Citibank’s consumer, commercial, and investment businesses in the West Coast region that included a staff of 3,000. In addition, he worked with the International Retail bank of the Global Consumer Group as a business advisor to Citibank, Taiwan for the integration and development of a business banking proposition for the marketplace.
Robert’s most recent full-time appointment was as Director of the Small Business Development Center in San Mateo, where he oversaw access to capital of $10.5 million in 2017. As an alumnus with considerable knowledge in new ventures and entrepreneurship, Robert redesigned GGU’s Chevron Small Business and Entrepreneurship program during the spring of 2018 – resulting in increased student numbers and the recruitment of several new faculty members.
“Robert knows GGU very well and is already a highly valued instructor and program director,” says Gordon Swartz, Dean of GGU’s Ageno School of Business and the School of Accounting. “He has proven himself in the executive suite and in the classroom, which makes him the kind of accomplished scholar-practitioner who will continue to distinguish Golden Gate University’s programs for working professionals.”
