The 2018 Digital Analytics Association (DAA) San Francisco symposium convened at Golden Gate University on September 27, featuring presenters from Nike, Google, Facebook, and other companies. Dr. Judy Lee represents GGU on the Symposia Planning Team of the DAA San Francisco chapter. Dr. Lee, whose roles at Golden Gate University include Director of the MS in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, presented a session titled “Establishing Empathy with Customers.” Two other GGU professors that presented were Visiting Associate Professor Dr. Sia Zadeh (“A/B Testing”) and Distinguished Adjunct Professor Dr. Mona Sabuco (“KPIs and Analytics”). GGU was the event’s official host.
The day-long session was “emceed” by David McBride, Director of Product Management at IBM’s Watson Customer Experience Analytics. Arun Bhattacharya, Product Marketing Director at Adobe Experience Cloud, filled in the attendees about the DAA’s activities.
Jessica Hastings, Product Experience Analytics Manager at Facebook, provided an update on the work of the DAA Women in Analytics community that supports gender equality and the success of women in the field. Tim Degner, Lead Graphic Designer at Nike, presented a “Design Crash Course.”
“Google Optimize: Testing and Personalization Made Easy” was presented by Tiffany Siu, who serves as Product Marketing Manager for the Google Marketing Platform.
GGU students and staff worked together to promote and help facilitate the event. “The Digital Analytics Association is the leader in linking digital analytics practitioners,” said Dr. Lee. “We include their self-assessment evaluation in our courses. We are proud to be DAA University Partner and to have hosted their 2018 San Francisco Symposium.”
Other presenters included Michele Kiss, Senior Partner at Analytics Demystified and Michael Galvez, Optimization Strategist at Merkel. Anke Audenaert represented Udacity — the event’s official sponsor. A complete description of the event’s sessions can be found on the DAA website.
