Recently, the Braden School of Taxation and School of Accounting hosted an Open House for prospective students. The event was moderated by Eric Lee, MS, CPA, who is Director of Academic Quality & Training and Lecturer at the Braden School. In this 3-minute video, alumni discuss how learning from industry experts and attending networking events helped them launch careers. All three are working at Big Four firms in San Francisco. Here’s some of what they had to say:

“A lot of the professors come straight out of industry … Professor Carson is a  retired partner from PwC … and so much of what he said is applicable on the technical side and the soft skills side. “

Noah Lee (Master of Accountancy, ’17), PricewaterhouseCoopers

“Professors … give you advice on business etiquette and how to be professional. Sometimes what firms look for is: ‘If we put that person out to a client is that person going to be OK?’”

Sherry Zhou (MS, Taxation, ’17), KPMG

“Firms sent recruiters or partner-recruiters to campus … You get to see how people speak and how they interact in this world, and you get to sell yourself.”

Brittany Bento-Tibbs (MS, Taxation, ’18), KPMG
